# Additional route planning

This section shows you how to configure settings for additional planning scenarios when you want to add new orders to existing routes and re-optimize them.

The section [Regular additional planning of the route](https://docs.routeq.com/doc/en/vrp/additional-planning.md) describes the recommended method of additional planning. You can only implement it using an API.

If you need to implement additional planning using Excel templates, you can use the method [Additional planning (outdated version)](https://docs.routeq.com/doc/en/vrp/planned-route.md). This method is outdated and no longer receives updates, but it still works.
